Candidate: EMORY CAVIN

Emory Cavin began his work on the Lee County School Board while he was still in middle school as a student representative on the School Board Student Advisory Committee and continued in that capacity throughout his time in Fort Myers High School, where he also served on the School Advisory Committee. During this time he also worked as a paid intern with Lee Schools TV sharing positive stories of faculty, staff, and students from all over the Lee County School District. While at Fort Myers High School, Emory was elected to serve as his Junior Class President and, this year, he was elected as President of the Student Government. Because of his early involvement and current experience, Emory has a keen interest in effective learning through the grade levels and across the curriculum. He believes that we all benefit when children are given a safe environment to learn and grow. Emory's priorities are appropriate funding for personnel and material resources; student centered programs that encourage creative approaches to learning; district to community communication and partnership; and a consistent focus on clear, transparent and common sense decision making. Now as he leaves the school district as a student Emory wants to give back as an adult. He is grateful for the education he received in the Lee County School District and he wants to work hard to ensure every child continues to have those same opportunities.
