Candidate's Statement

District 1 City Councilwoman, Jennifer Brahier, a resident of the Scenic Heights Neighborhood since 1974, brings a wealth of experience and deep-rooted commitment to her role as a public servant. Born into a military family, with both parents having served, Jennifer’s childhood was full of adventure on a journey through many beautiful and unique locations. However, it was Pensacola that captured her heart, where she and her husband chose to establish their home and raise their family.

Over the years, Jennifer transitioned from being a daughter to a wife, mother, aunt, and “Grandmama,” all while building lasting connections with neighbors and colleagues. Her personal experience has given her first-hand insight into the concerns and issues faced by the residents of Pensacola, a city she is proud to call home and where she’s delighted to see her children and extended family continue the tradition of raising future generations.

Elected in 2020 to represent District 1, Jennifer has remained steadfast in her commitment to serve as a voice and advocate for resident concerns.  True to her campaign promises, she has diligently listened to, responded to, and represented the interests of her constituents, both within her District and city-wide.

As a tenured Professor of Mathematics, at Pensacola State College, Jennifer brings a disciplined approach to problem-solving and a dedication to excellence in her public service role. While maintaining her academic responsibilities, she remains readily available to collaborate with residents to address issues and concerns, while prioritizing the preservation and enhancements of Pensacola’s many invaluable assets.

Jennifer continues to work tirelessly with fellow council members, the mayor, and city staff to improve infrastructure of District 1, with a focus on road safety and the enhancement of recreation amenities in our many wonderful parks. Recently, she has worked to secure the renovations and plans for Hitzman-Optimist Park, Scenic Heights Park, The Roger Scott Complex, and the new installation of park equipment at Eastgate and Belvedere Parks. Her passion for nature led her to propose and champion the passing of legislation to preserve Hitzman-Optimist Park Urban Forest, securing recreational enjoyment and use for future generations.

Jennifer remains committed to maintaining Pensacola’s existing resources and amenities while seeking opportunities to expand and improve public access for all residents. Through collaboration, dedication, and a deep love for her community, she continues to strive for a brighter and better future for Pensacola and its residents.
