Candidate: Amanda Hodges

My name is Amanda Hodges and I am excited about the future direction of our school district.  After much prayer I made the decision to seek the District 5 School Board seat because I believe that I am uniquely qualified to serve our students and teachers in this position.  I taught at Baker County High School and Baker County Middle School for over 10 years and I understand the challenges our teachers face daily in and out of the classroom.  I also have children who attend school in our district and I want the best possible education for my children and every other child in Baker County.  If elected, I promise to work on behalf of all students, teachers and staff to ensure that each child is provided an education that will benefit them long after they graduate and instill a life long love of learning.

I am the daughter of Claudell and Phyllis Rhoden of Sanderson.  My parents taught me to serve and love the people of my community and to work hard to help improve it.  I have been married to my husband Jeremy since 2004 and we have 3 children, Owen who is 13 and our twin girls Katherine and Caroline who are 5.  Our family lives in Glen Saint Mary and we enjoy spending time outdoors, watching college football games and traveling.  

I have a Bachelors Degree from the University of North Florida and am certified to teach Social Science grades 6-12 and Elementary grades K-3.  I taught American History and American Government at Baker County High School and Baker County Middle School.  For the past 5 years I have served on the Town Council for Glen Saint Mary.
