Candidate: Edgar J. Bernier

A firefighter, paramedic, Marine Veteran, husband, and dad, Edgar “EJ” Bernier was born and raised on the Treasure Coast. He’s running for Mayor of Port St. Lucie to continue his lifelong service to our community. 

After graduating from Vero Beach High School, EJ served our country in the Marine Corps as a communications specialist. He credits the camaraderie of working as a unit with instilling in him the values of service and community above self.

In 2008, he became a member of the Saint Lucie County Fire District, a position in which he continues to serve to this day. He can often be found at the fire station working 24-hour shifts keeping his community safe. EJ’s service with SLCFD is a large part of why he decided to run for office: to advocate for his fellow brothers and sisters who serve as first responders. He knows firsthand the stress of the job that not only affects firefighters, police officers, and other frontline workers, but also puts a strain on their families.

EJ believes that through commitment to service, mutual respect, and compromise when appropriate, we can improve the lives of all Port Saint Lucie residents.

A graduate of IRSC, EJ lives in Port St. Lucie with his wife, Alise, and their two boys, Matthew and Miles.
