I am Doug McClure and I am seeking the position of Putnam County Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller. Outside of my military service I have spent my entire life in Putnam County. My respect and love for this community, county, and country is genuine, yes it’s real. When I am not running my small family business, I enjoy volunteering my time to several charitable organizations. There is no greater feeling than helping another in need. I am a Christian and a member of the Methodist Church. I am also a member of the Free and Accepted Masons of Florida and Order of the Eastern Star, a noble of Gainesville Shrine Club and Nomad Rider. I am also a proud member of American Legion Post 45, and Legion Riders of Palatka, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10164 of Interlachen, and also the Moose lodge 184 in Palatka. I am a Representative for MSANA (Masonic Service Association of North America), which allows me to volunteer my time at the Malcolm Randall Veterans Administration Medical Center along with my best friend and wife Kathy McClure. We regularly go and give out coffee, danishes, and other snacks to our Veterans.  During the month of December, we hold our annual Christmas Party for our veterans at the V.A. hospital. I am also an active member of the Republican Club of Putnam County and a Precinct 20 Committeeman for the Putnam County Republican Executive Committee.

·         Once elected as Clerk of Court.  I plan to fully implement a Veterans Court in our county. Veterans have a special spot in my heart, being one I can understand the difficulties that a veteran may go through and struggles they may deal with on a daily basis. Our Hero’s deserve respect.

• As a public leader I will work with our legislators to address the needs of our citizens and also be a voice in Tallahassee for the betterment of Putnam County.

·         As County Auditor, improved auditing in order to proactively identify issues before and during our budgeting process. Working to assist in Ethical decisions when they occur.

·         As Clerk to the board of County Commissioners, it is important to work together with the current leaders and listen to the individuals that reside in our county.  In order to move our county forward every elected official needs to seek out our community’s feedback.  I will be willing to work with the County Commission to develop proactive budgeting practices. Department heads and constitutional offices should have budget projections for 2+ years.

I would like to serve again, this time locally. I have great ideas that I think would be beneficial to our county’s progress and future.  I am willing to work and listen to all citizens who are interested and working for the betterment of our County. Leadership is not a college course it is a learned trait.
