Candidate: Buddy Goddard

I am seeking a second term as Putnam County Commission, District 5, where I previously served as Vice Chairman and Chairman respectfully. I hold the Advanced County Commissioner status surpassing the Certified County Commissioner training courses.

I grew up working in the insulation trade with 35+ years of business and management experience in the private, public, and government sectors. I am a small business owner, a former contractor with Georgia-Pacific, served as a Field Appraiser with the Putnam County Property Appraiser's Office, and managed multiple projects at NASA and on military bases.

I not only work hard, but smart, gathering information and exhausting resources to create better outcomes for Putnam County. During my tenure, I have prioritized growing the economy, balancing budgets, enhancing transporation infrastructure, building reserves, and keeping taxes low.

I am a member of Trinity Baptist Church as well as a Rotarian (President Elect) who believes in "service before self". I also currently serve on several boards:  Northeast Florida Regional Council (2nd Vice President), Northeast Florida Regional Council Financial Board, and Transportation Disadvantaged Board (Chairman).

My wife, Shawn Dale (Minnick), and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this year. We have three children, all who graduated from Palatka High School. Our son (Thomas) has blessed us with two grandsons, our oldest daughter (Theresa) is a USMC Chief Drill Instructor, and our youngest daughter (Myranda) started at St. Johns River State College and now attends Santa Fe College.
