Candidate's Statement

Cia Gomez-Sherman is originally from the Washington, DC area. She relocated to SWFL in 2007 to support her husband’s career goals and has been a resident of Lehigh Acres since 2009. She obtained her BA in International Studies from Randolph-Macon College and then her MBA in Global Management from the University of Phoenix.

Cia has 5 years of experience in human resources and accounting in a non profit organization. She also has an additional 10 years of experience in communications and management as part of the executive team of one of the largest Harley-Davidson dealer groups in the country. She has been awarded for her innovation as an executive assistant, for her commitment to diversity at her college, and for her leadership through the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce.

She is passionate about building healthy organizations to include strong business teams and feels strongly that with this knowledge and experience she can make the Lehigh Acres Fire Department one that firefighters want to work for and the community is proud to support.

Cia decided to run for this office because she feels that recent decisions made by the department have caused division and excessive expenditures. As Fire Commissioner, she would be focused on financial accountability and employee recruitment and retention.
