If elected as Gateway Board Supervisor SEAT 4 I will act to:

1. Ensure your tax dollars are spent wisely and keep assessments as LOW as possible;
2. Improve storm water management throughout every community in Gateway and Lee County so our streets and yards are NOT part of the 100-year rain event flood plan;
3. Confirm that the very expensive Storm Lake construction project is required and had adequate 3rd party evaluation;
4. Fix major issues with our Parks and Recreation program; e.g. our DOG park is a disgrace and we are subsidizing use of our Soccer Park by non-residents; 
5. Ensure that Potable Water, Irrigation Water and Sewer System assets are adequate and viable for now and the foreseeable future;
6. Add lots of color and upgrade the sprinkler systems to save water and money in all our common landscape areas; 
7. Ensure inventory information about the District’s assets is current and assets are maintained and updated to meet requirements;
8. Make information sharing by the District a priority by working to improve all forms of communications;
9. Ensure that any corrupt, unethical actions of any GSCDD employee is dealth with promptly and justly;
10. Advocate effectively for issues by listening to any resident by phone, e-mail or in person; and
11. Learn all I can about an issue or opportunity impacting us, so I can be more effective.

Accomplishments as Hampton Park Resident HOA Board Director (Two Terms)

Established a Residents Council to address HP Access & Safety, Developer urnover and Storm Water Management issues;

• Planned and hosted Town Hall meetings to broaden community awareness with speakers from a multitude of organizations;
• Prepared recommendations with the Council for the new HOA Board;
• Convinced the GSCDD to get Lennar to convey the Hampton Park Storm Water Drainage & Management System;
• Convinced GSCDD to budget for fencing at the Griffin Drive entrance to the Linear Park;
• Worked with WCI for the installation of Gates at the Linear Park and Gateway Lake Blvd.;
• Engaged residents, SWFL Legislative delegation, FL Governor and Secretary of Transportation for construction of Noise Barrier Wall adjacent to HP and SR82;
• Persuaded WCI to install 6’ fence adjacent to HP and Griffin Drive;
• Persuaded GSCDD to purchase and install LED street lights along Griffin Drive;
• Persuaded WCI to get FPL to install Lighting at HP back entrance.

Background

I have been married to Linda Steele for 29+ years,  We have three children and nine grandchildren.  We love to travel in the US staying in B&Bs, visiting National Parks and then day trips.

We moved to Hampton Park in April 2015 and wake up every morning in paradise! We came here from Kansas which has awful winters and hotter, more humid summers than Fort Myers.  I worked professionally for more than 45 years.  The last 25 years with MCI and Verizon Business as a Director of Sales and Sales Engineering selling complex communication services to Fortune 1500 companies.  

I am a Veteran of the Army and served in Vietnam.  

I volunteered for Big Brother Big Sister program for 10 years, am a member of the National Alliance for Mental Illness, was a member and leading participant of the Hampton Park Broadband Communication Services Committee and finally I served two terms as the Hampton Park Homeowners Resident Director. 

I graduated from the University of Oklahoma.
