Candidate: JOHN MATTHEW BROCK

I will keep this short and sweet. 

The best memory I have as a young American is the relentless and deep passion of my six grade teacher Mrs. Hamburg. Her drive and motivation to lead her students to the pinnacle of their performance pulled me away from a handicapped state of anxiety and distraction to a focused, energetic, goal oriented road of high performance. Mrs. Hamburg’s unique style of self-directed leadership catapulted my class into the number one position in P.S. 165, Queens. From Reading and Math to Science and Social Studies, Mrs. Hamburg built a united front of top performance that I have never experienced since. Her influence, her desire to see all children exceed their goals is what drives me to move forward with my candidacy. Applying that same level of passion with results to help oversee the Lee County School System is paramount.

I have been a resident of Lee County, Florida since 1992. I have lived in Cape Coral for 20+ years. I was born in Baltimore, Maryland and my family moved to Long Island, NY when I was a very young. In 1992 my family moved to Lee County in pursuit of a better life. I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters, all of which live in Lee County accept one that lives in Pennsylvania. I have a very loving wife Gabriella and absolutely fantastic daughter Catarina. I also have two awesome guinea pigs; Nutmeg and Runtsy and a lovable hamster named Peanut. I had a beautiful calico kitty for 17 1/2 years. Her name was Kiara and she passed away a few months ago. RIP kitty.

The first thing you should know about me is I am not perfect. Nor will I ever claim to be. I have made mistakes in my life. Mistakes are alright though, as long as you learn from them. If you haven’t made any mistakes in life, you haven’t been living, you’ve been existing.  I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. I have worked for several of Lee County’s largest employers; Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Sony Electronics Corporation, Inc., Lee County Economic Development Office and Gartner, Inc. I have an extensive background in economics, conflict mitigation, program management and team building.

In addition, I have a very strong understanding and aptitude for information technology and digital applications. I am currently self-employed as a Management Consultant. I have been looking forward to running for the Lee County School Board for a few years and I am excited to be your candidate for District 4. I am eager to represent you.
