Candidate's Statement

Hello, my name is Bear McCullough. I am a lifelong resident of South Hillsborough County. I grew up in Balm back when it was dirt roads and orange groves. I am now 41 years old and still live in the same area. Growing up, my family’s income was generated from agriculture-based businesses and taking care of our land. Those values I learned helping my mom and dad are instilled in my family today. If we take care of the land the land will reward us in kind. My hobbies are spending time with my wife and children at our cattle ranch in Balm.

I am a graduate of Durant High School in Plant City where I attended from 1995-1999. I hold a degree in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University. I have held several positions in my adult life including Cattle Ranch Manager, Law Enforcement Officer and Safety Specialist. I am the current President of the Hillsborough Cattlemen’s Association where I preside over approximately 170 members. I am also the Chairman of the Hillsborough Cattlemen Foundation. This organization provides youth involved in agriculture assistance to ensure success. I am also a member of the Florida Cattlemen’s Association where I will be serving as the Membership Committee Chairman starting in June 2022. I serve on the Board of Directors for the following youth promoting organizations: The Florida Strawberry Festival Beef Breed Show and The Hillsborough Beef Expo.
