Candidate's Statement

Chase Anderson “Andy” Romagnano is an 11th generation native of the Central Gulf Coast, and a descendant of early Gulf Coast pioneers such as Charles Rochon, Jean Baptiste Baudreau De Graveline, and Joseph Simon De La Pointe.

Mr. Romagnano is the great-grandson of Connie Bea Hope, who regaled viewers from Biloxi to Navarre for 25 years on her television show on WKRG.

Mr. Romagnano is the grandson of Joseph M. Romagnano Sr, who served two terms as president of the Paralyzed Veterans of America beginning in 1978 and was previously a law enforcement legend, having founded the Narcotics and Vice Squad of the Mobile Police Department.

Mr. Romagnano has held elected office before, serving on the Mobile County Republican Executive Committee and in fact much of the difficulties in his life have been politically motivated.

Mr. Romagnano was a write-in candidate for Circuit Clerk and Comptroller in 2020 and while Pam Childers in theory won more votes Mr. Romagnano went to the Supervisor of Elections Office on November 12, 2020 and was told by an employee that “Pam Childers had 309 invalid petition signatures” but that “she had actually turned in 2,439 and Mr. Romagnano is of the position that she likely did have 309 invalid petitions but that she likely only turned in 1,821 valid signatures rather than 2,439 which would drop her below the valid minimum petition signature requirement and Mr. Romagnano is running for Mayor precisely because he was done unfairly in that race.

Mr. Romagnano graduated from Spring Hill College where he double majored in Political Science and Business Management and was Mardi Gras King of Spring Hill College in 2007 and served as Senior Class Senator on the Spring Hill College Student Government Association in the 2007-08 term.

Mr. Romagnano had an ACT score of 30 (36 in reading, 33 in Science Reasoning, 29 in English, 24 in Mathematics) and a 161 the first time he took the LSAT and matriculated to law school the first time in 2010 though if he is serving as Mayor will likely get his JD through online classes if a Florida university will offer such.
