My intention for running for a seat on the Soil and Water Conservation Board is to utilize my education and experience in a way that can make a difference in this community. My educational background includes a B.S. in Agriculture/Agronomy, M.Sc. Crop Sciences and an MBA, all from the University of Illinois. My professional background includes 20 years experience as an Environmental Scientist for State and Federal Agencies along with Corporate organizations, 9 years in Academia at the University of Illinois College of Agriculture, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, and currently in secondary education as a Biology Instructor. Becoming a member of the Soil and Water Conservation District Board would allow me to represent the many diverse stakeholders in Charlotte County in identifying issues pertaining to the conservation of natural resources and developing fiscally responsible solutions. The protection, sustainability and improvement of Charlotte County's soil and water resources is critical to all facets of our community quality of life. With my background in environmental management, agriculture and education, and also having grown up on a farm in a rural area, I am very familiar with the important role of the County Soil and Water Conservation Districts and I would be delighted to serve my community in this capacity.
