Candidate: REED PANOS

      I want to be a supervisor of district 5 to really represent the people of the villages. If you want the status quo, vote for an incumbent. If you want a fresh voice, proven leader, and innovative thoughtful thinker who wants to represent the residents, vote for me, Reed G Panos, MD

     My goals in seeking the position of supervisor in district 5 government are to make sure there is a positive viewpoint in the council and we always think of the Villages residents first. Too many decisions are being made solely on economic arguments. An important beginning, economics are not the sole criteria for maintaining the life style we all love and want to maintain. To many things are being cancelled due to costs and we need to keep the vision we all moved here for in the forefront of our decisions.

      I have always been an innovative leader from early days starting as an undergraduate. President of my local fraternity, President of the Intrafraternity council and Vice President of the student body at The University of California, Berkeley, I was a known leader who could get things done. I went to medical school and completed a rigorous surgical residency, then completed a second residency in reconstructive plastic surgery. Rather than go to private practice, I spent the next 24 years in the military, reconstructing the many war and civilian injuries that occured, ultimately being promoted to Colonel in the US Air Force. I accepted many leadership positions, including department head in a joint services position, and later chief of surgery in a private hospital after retirement. I was able to overcome all the many hurdles to start and get approved, a new surgery residency program in a non-university based hospital, something that had not been accomplished in the previous 20 years. 

      I know what it takes to right wrongs, build coalitions, get things done and make real the many dreams we in the Villages have come to expect. I am a veteran with proven leadership skills. As founder and chair of Fair Government for Sumter, a political action committee dedicated to returning all levels of government to the residents, I was instrumental in successfully electing the EMS team of Estep, Search and Miller to the Sumter County Commission. It is this kind of coalition and teamwork the I plan on initiating to reverse many of the one sided agreements held with the developer. If you want honest REAL change,
