LARRY J GREEN

I am not a politician but I see a need for a change in Sumter County.   A commissioner should represent the people of the county, not be controlled by a special interest group.  This is why I am running for county commissioner in district 1 as an independent candidate.

I attended Auburn and Montevallo Universities in Alabama earning a bachelor degree in business administration with a major in marketing and a minor in accounting.

I spent 35 years in the construction industry, most of which was related to heavy equipment.   I have been on many road construction and mining job sites.  I have first hand knowledge of what goes into building an infrastructure.  

While living in Pensacola I was elected to the board of directors for the condo association where I lived.  Shorty after being elected to the board I was elected as president of the board.  I was re-elected for 5 terms.  In 2004 hurricane Ivan made a direct hit near Pensacola causing over $10 million damages to the condo building.  There was many decisions related to the repair and improvements that needed to be done with a limited budget.  With my team we were able to get the job done.

I again want to work with a team to make improvements and repairs to our county that represent the wants and needs of our citizens, from the farmers in the south end to The Villages in the north. .

Our county is growing at an unbelievable speed with future growth planned for the next 20 years.
