Candidate: John Joseph Heaning

I am excited to announce I have decided to run for Fort Pierce City Commissioner, District 2. St Lucie County has been my home since retiring from the Navy after 26 years in 2001, in Fort Pierce since 2004.  I love Fort Pierce and have served on the Infrastructure Surtax Committee and am currently serving on the City’s Planning Board and Parking Committee. I always liked the idea that I can make good decisions and changes that will be good for Fort Pierce and want to continue to serve this gem of a city.  

I served our country for 26 years in the United States Navy and am very proud of that.  I enlisted at age 17 and rose through the ranks to become a Command Master Chief (E-9).  I became a leader that I felt made good decisions and changes for the betterment of my shipmates and the United States Navy.

I have been a St Lucie County Chamber of Commerce member for 23 years and am currently serving as a Board member (for the second time). As a business owner and a Real Estate agent, and a member of the Realtor's Assocation of the Palm Beaches / St Lucie.

 I follow what happens here in Fort Pierce and want to ensure we see smart growth with proper infrastructure, public safety and affordable housing. 

With my life experiences, I believe I can contribute to the betterment of Fort Pierce

 John is happily married to his wife, prominent criminal defense attorney Karen Tufte (Heaning). When he is not hard at work he enjoys boating, golfing and traveling.
