Candidate's Statement

On February 26, 2020 I switched from Sheriff to Circuit Clerk.

I sought to qualify for the Republican nomination but was not able to raise the money to pay the qualifying fee or get signatures for the nominating petitions.

I was born on May 7, 1985 in Mobile, Alabama.

My great-grandmother was known by the stage name of Connie Bea Hope and she was on TV on WKRG from 1955-1981.

My grandfather Joe Romagnano was president of the Paralyzed Veterans of America from 1978-1980.

I served on the Mobile County Republican Executive Committee in the 2010's which in Alabama is an elected partisan office so I have held what is legally considered "elected office" before.

My mother was a long time employee of the U.S. Attorney's Office in Mobile and worked for future Attorney General Jeff Sessions among others

My first ancestor arrived on the Central Gulf Coast at Biloxi on January 8, 1700, one Sieur Jean Baptiste Baudreau De Graveline I.

I was subject to a lengthy period of politically motivated persecution in Alabama including the filing of false charges on August 9, 2012, blacklisting and blackballing in employment to where I couldn't even get an Alabama real estate salesperson's license (passed the test in '14) listed with a broker, and which culminated in a bogus court case being rigged to take away my paid for house at 2156 Venetia Road to be purchased by an LLC with Charlie Graddick as principal (who was a judge at the time, Attorney General of Alabama from 1979-1987).

I served on the Student Government Association at Spring Hill College from 2007-08 and was Mardi Gras King there in 2007 and it seems I am the only one who remembers "once a Badger, always a Badger."

I have been subject to discrimination for being Italian all my life and one of the reasons why I have a misdemeanor conviction from the email charge in 2012 is anti-Italian prejudice that I wouldn't have if my name was Willington Chestworth Smithingtonford and I want to end prejudice against Italian-Americans in Escambia County and promote appreciation for all diversity in all its forms in Escambia County.
