Candidate: Patty Hightower

Patty Hightower has extensive experience as an educator, volunteer, and organization leader. She earned her B.S. and M.A. degrees in Education from the University of Alabama. Her husband Jimmy was a partner in the Levin firm and currently is a professor and Paralegal Program Coordinator at Pensacola State College. Their sons, Andy and Patrick, are graduates of Pensacola High School's International Baccalaureate Program.

She is the current elected Chair of the Escambia County School Board and is active in planning the search process for a soon to be appointed Superintendent of Schools.

Patty has served as the president of the Florida PTA as well as the Florida School Board Association. She has served the community in positions including Take Stock in Children Program Coordinator, Foundation for Excellence Chair, Escambia County 1/2 cent sales tax committee.

Her awards and recognition include the Florida Education Association President's Award for the Support of Public Education, Lifetime Florida PTA Membership, Escambia County Council of PTAs Peggy Pilcher Community Involvement Award, Florida PTA Walk of Fame Honoree, Pensacola High Outstanding Volunteer Award, and twice nominated for Sacred Heart's Spirit of Women Award.
