Candidate's Statement

Clorissti “Clo” Berine Shoemo is a long-time resident of District 3 and vested in the community. Along with her passion for helping, her experience gained on Capitol Hill working for three different members of Congress has equipped her to strike the right balance of effective policy and oversight of the daily operations needed to serve the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority (ECUA). “Clo” as she is affectionately called by her loved ones, is a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and a Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU) Public Administration major.

Inspired and motivated, she moved back to Pensacola in 1998, ready to take the knowledge she learned in Washington, District of Columbia (D.C.) to Pensacola. Clorissti has worked on multiple campaigns, advocated for community issues and can always be found helping, learning and resolving issues. She has always gravitated towards career and volunteer positions to make a positive impact on the community. Clorissti understands sacrifice and is ready to do whatever is necessary to benefit the community. She understands that there is a great need that exists in District 3 and she is prepared and ready to be an asset to the ECUA Board of Directors and an advocate for the constituents in District 3.

Clorissti is a member of the legal team at Aylstock, Witkin, Kreis and Overholtz, a law firm specializing in consumer justice and personal injury. She currently sits on the Pensacola Escambia Development Commission (PEDC) and the ECUA Citizens’ Advisory Committee (CAC) is always looking for and finding ways to help better our community.

ECUA needs transparency, accountability and someone who is going to ask the right questions as well as do the research to confirm the right answers and present the most optimal solutions to shape a healthier trajectory for the residents of District 3.

Clorissti plans to create an environment where ratepayers are heard, and their viewpoint is not only acknowledged but their ideas and concerns are part of the decision-making process.  She will always ensure decisions made will be environmentally sound and fiscally responsible.

Lastly, Clorissti is an actively engaged member of a family that believes in serving the community and their country. Her father served three terms in public service as Alderman for the city of Bridgeport, Connecticut (CT) in addition to serving in the United States Army. Clorissti’s husband, Sergeant First Class Anthony Shoemo, is active duty currently serving in the 4th Battalion, 3rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment. This couple of service are the proud parents of a beautiful blended family.
