Candidate: Kevin Zimmerman

My name is Kevin Zimmerman. I’m asking for your vote to serve as your City Council representative for District 1 and all residents of the great City of Port St Lucie.

I have been a resident of Port St Lucie since 2011. I have owned and operated a small transportation service serving in the community for 9 years. As someone who travels the city on a daily basis, I’ve seen and experienced its growth first hand.

As Port St Lucie continues to grow, so will its challenges. Trash and traffic are the
foremost issues on the minds of our citizens at this time. We are the 7th largest city in
Florida and will soon be the 6th, with our population estimated to double in the next few
years to nearly half a million residents. With growth comes more trash, traffic, and crime.

New garbage cans are a start. I believe the community needs to share the cost of general
trash, recycling, and the pick up of trees and landscaping debris. There’s more we can do to improve service including a discussion on who should be responsible for the cost and pick up of bulk trash.

Did you notice the flashing yellow left turn signals in St Lucie West? This is a great first step. There are plenty of intersections in the city where this type of small adjustment would improve the flow of traffic. As someone in the transportation industry, there is more we can do.

Public safety will always be my priority. This includes any funding needed by first
responders and law enforcement for hiring, training or equipment they may need to keep
us safe.
