My name is James Clasby, and I am ready to lead Fort Pierce into the future. I am a multiple generation Fort Pierce Native. I have lived here my whole life, and I would not want to live anywhere else. I attended Fairlawn Elementary, Lincoln Park Academy Middle School, and John Carroll High School. I earned my Associates Degree at IRSC, my Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from FAU, and my Master’s Degree in Public Administration at FAU.
The politics of local government have always been my passion. While in college I was able to work as a St. Lucie County intern with the County Commissioners, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Planning and Development Services Department. In 2011 at the age of 22, I became the youngest person in St Lucie County history to be appointed to the Citizen’s Budget Committee. In 2014 at the age of 24, I became the youngest St Lucie County Planning and Zoning Commissioner to be appointed At-Large. I was able to serve on the SLC MPO Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee. I have also traveled to Tallahassee during legislative session as a member of the Treasure Coast Builders Association to encourage our state representatives to support common sense legislation. Over the past 10 years I have worked for both the public and private sectors as a Development Project Manager, Community Redevelopment Project Manager, Facilities Project Manager, and as a Construction Project Manager.
My overall goal is to increase the quality of life for Fort Pierce Residents. I champion Public Safety, Complete Streets, Public Open Spaces, Parks, High-Quality and Affordable Housing, Community Infrastructure, and Redevelopment Projects that help to maintain and enhance the unique character of our beautiful city. I love the City of Fort Pierce. It has always been a dream of mine to represent our city. Now more than ever it is important that we elect leaders that have experience navigating government in both the public and private sectors; leaders that understand development and the importance of protecting our environment and local culture; leaders that champion low taxes, low utility bills, and are not afraid to speak their mind. I believe that my education and work history have put me in a position to fulfill all of these requirements. That is why I have decided to run for Fort Pierce City Commission in District 2, and I humbly ask for you to vote for me.
Respectfully,
James Clasby, MPA
