Candidate's Statement

Angie Boynton was born Angelia Lorraine Boynton and raised in Ocala, Florida.  She is a product of the Marion County School system, so it has a special place in her heart.  She graduated from Forest High School and attended the University of Florida. . She is the mother of one daughter, who is currently working on her PhD in Psychology at Antioch University.  She is the daughter of the late Douglas Boynton, Sr. and Mildred Boynton.

She is a business owner, Instant Tax Group & Associates, specializing in Income Tax prep and small business accounting.  She has training in Federal and State Taxes-Individual and Business, Narcotics Schedule I-V (Clearance to Burn), QuickBooks Technology Concepts, Marion County Citizens Academy, Ocala Police Citizens Academy, and the Leadership Institute Campaign Training.

She represents Marion County on the Florida School Board Association, Board of Director. Alt. Chair, Finance, Legislative and Vice-Chair Multicultural Diversity Committees.  She is a member and holds credentials from the National Associations of Tax Professionals, Florida Chapter of NATP, National Directory of Registered Tax Return Preparers & Professionals Ltd., National/Florida Associations of Notary Public.

She is one of the 2014 Inductee in Marion County Black Archives, 2011 AKA-First Black Female Marion Countywide Election, 2011 Republican Women-Outstanding Service Award, 2009 Marion County Republican of the Year, 2006 Community Achievement Award Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, and 2007 Florida Federation of Black Republicans Outstanding Black Republicans.  She was selected by the Citizens Ambassador Program to serve as an Ambassador to South Africa and Egypt to participate in a Global discussion on Early Childhood Education.  Also, she established the Boynton Memorial Education Scholarship (Housed at the Marion County Public Education Foundation) as an investment in students of Marion County.

Also, Angelia Boynton is a Poet/Lyricist/Composer under Ja’Leah.  She is a voting member of The Songwriters Hall of Fame (SHOF) and a member of ASCAP. She is one of the 2014 American Songwriter Award Nominees for her song “Dejavu Feelings” in the Lyric and 2015 Hollywood Songwriter Award-Nominee for her song, “The Game of Love.” The Song of the Year songwriting contest has awarded JaLeah the Semi-Finalist placement in the song competition for “Gift ofLove”. She released her first novel ‘Seasons Change’ and hopes to have a successful writing career.

 

Boynton is a member of the, Republican Women Ocala Marion Federated, Florida Federation of Republican Women, National Federation Marion of Republican Women, Florida Assembly of Black Republicans.  She is also a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

Boynton always reads for Florida Farm Bureau Agricultural Day to elementary students and donated funds to Public Education of Marion County for the development of a vegetable garden at Evergreen Elementary.

My experience as a Finance Director for Mad Dads, Chairman of the Board for PACE Center for Girls, Narcotics Supervisor at Shands Teaching Hospital, prepared me for the job as your school board member.   She brings bring leadership to the board in her capacity as a former Marion County Republican Executive Committee Vice Chairman, Republican Executive Committeewoman Precinct 3269, Republican Women Ocala/Marion Federated, President, Florida Federation Republican Women – Board, Member-at-Large, National Federation of Republican Women- Outreach Committee Chair, Marion County Black Republican Club Federated, President, Florida Assembly of Black Republicans Vice-Chair, Republican Party of Florida African American Leadership Council, NAACP Political Action Chairman, Marion County School Board Race Relations Task Force Alternate, American Red Cross Advisory Board, MAD DADS of Greater Ocala, Inc. MOMS Division President,  E. C. Mitchell Hampton Federated Women's Club, Soroptomist International Business Women's Club, Student Mentor- Howard Middle School , Vanguard High School Weekend Tutor, Girl Scout Leader/ Gaitway Council Cub Scout Leader, Pack #708 (3 Years) and the Belleview Business Masters National Exchange Club.
