Candidate's Statement

Born and raised here in Lee County, Tommy Doyle made our community proud by enlisting in the United States Air Force upon his graduation from Bishop Verot High School. He spent four years in Tampa where he worked for Joint Command at MacDill Airforce Base and trained as an Airborne Radio Operator. After his service in the Air Force, Tommy attended the University of West Florida in Pensacola earning his BA degree in accounting; and in 1979 he returned to Ft Myers and his family’s business, Flint and Doyle where he quickly showcased his talent and savviness for the business world. His father, Tom Doyle, and business partner Charlie Flint, founded Flint and Doyle in 1949. Tommy began working at Flint and Doyle when he was just 14 and that’s where he discovered he had an aptitude for business. He learned firsthand what it takes to be successful: hard work, self-discipline and innovativeness. He also learned that any project has to be planned out to even the smallest detail and no two projects are alike. Tommy and Charlie Flint’s son, Manny, took over the business in 1985 and have since grown the company from a one million dollar operation to an enterprise which at one point brought in over eight million dollars annually. Today, Flint and Doyle is the largest structural moving company in Florida. As a leader in consulting, their expertise has taken them around the globe as one of the most respected companies in the structural moving business. Tommy is an active member of the International Association of Structural Movers (IASM), serving on the board of directors for twelve years. As a director he has chaired many committees including the Scholarship Committee, Awards Committee and the Bylaws Committee. Tommy has also served as treasurer, secretary, vice president and president of IASM. Tommy shares a deep rooted passion for Lee County’s history and traditions as well as a fundamental belief in our representative form of government. It is that passion and his business insight that Tommy will bring to the office of Supervisor of Elections. Tommy and his wife Donna have been married for 28 years and have three children: Ryan, Taylor and Lauren.
