Candidate: Tommy Q. White

It is with great pride and humility that I announce my candidacy for the office of the Charlotte County Clerk of the Circuit Court. I am a 36 year resident of Charlotte County with an extensive record of community service. Over the years I have served in numerous officer capacities with the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce culminating as president. I have performed the duties as treasurer of many community organizations. My non-profit involvement has included United Way, the Charlotte County Family YMCA, the Boy Scouts of America and the American Red Cross to name a few. Additionally, I have participated as a non-attorney member of the Florida Bar 20th Judicial Circuit Court Grievance Committee and on the Charlotte County Elections Canvassing Board. I have also served as a coach in the Port Charlotte Little League. In my capacity as a Chief Deputy for the Clerk of the Circuit Court for over 26 years I have the responsibility of overseeing the function of the Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners. In that role, I have personally earned the citizens of Charlotte County over $215 million of interest in managing and making the decisions regarding the investment portfolio of the county. I have also saved the citizens of Charlotte County millions of dollars in my role of initiating and managing debt financings and refinancings during my time with the Clerk’s Office. I graduated from the University of Memphis, cum laude, with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration, majoring in accounting. I am a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Public Funds Investment Manager and Certified Government Finance Officer. I am running for the office of Clerk of the Circuit Court as an experienced member of the Office of the Clerk and a long time citizen of Charlotte County. I am married to Marianne, have three sons and daughters-in-law who are all successful graduates of Charlotte County public schools. They have all returned from college and are productive members of the Charlotte County community. They have given me seven beautiful grandchildren. If elected as the Charlotte County Clerk of the Circuit Court, it will be my mission to effectively and efficiently serve all of the citizens and the public. I will provide balanced customer service in every function we provide whether it be in the court system, the recording division or as Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners.
