Candidate's Statement

Officer Joe Angelini is currently the School Resource Officer at Sallie Jones Elementary School. He has two small children that he enjoys with his wife Christina and works alongside his older son, Brandon who is also a Punta Gorda Police Officer. After moving from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area, Joe began his law enforcement career in 1980 with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office. In 1989, Joe received his second promotion. Now at the rank of Sergeant, he was able to groom less experienced deputies. In 2009, after 27 years with the Sheriff’s Office, Joe joined the Punta Gorda Police Department, where he is focused on protecting the community’s future leaders. Aside from numerous certifications, Joe holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Management from Union University. He remains one of the most active members of the community serving on the Board of Directors of the Charlotte County Fair Association, the Board of Directors of the Punta Gorda Police Officer’s Pension Board, the Board of Directors of the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition, the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Charlotte County, and as a Committee member of the Back Pack Kidz. In 2014, Florida Governor Rick Scott appointed Joe as a Board member of the Charlotte County Children’s Service Council, where he is able to continue his passion for our community’s youth. When Joe is not busy on the many Boards, he volunteers his time as a mentor for the Take Stock in Kids program, a Jammers basketball coach, the Families First program, Do the Right Thing of Charlotte County, Empty Bowls, a supporter of the Drug Free Punta Gorda Anti-Drug Coalition, and he is a Rotartian with Harbor Heights / Peace River Rotary Club.
