     Aside from being a major nuisance, mosquitoes are the world’s most deadly creatures capable of spreading serious illnesses such as, West Nile virus, Eastern Equine encephalitis, dengue, and dog heartworm…diseases currently circulating in Florida.  Mosquito control involves much more than just spraying.  I have the scientific background necessary to know how to achieve exceptional control to benefit Beach residents.

• Ph.D. Medical/Veterinary Entomology (insects affecting human & animal health)
• M.S. Medical Entomology (insects affecting human health)
• B.S. Agriculture; Major-Entomology (study of insects)

Experience:

• 37-year career in mosquito control research including director of the State of Florida mosquito control product testing laboratory for 20 years
• Currently serve on Florida Health Department Mosquito Advisory Task Force (29 yrs)
• Trusted by counties across the Panhandle for providing mosquito control assistance and training
• Served on Beach Mosquito Control Board for 12 years
• Nationally respected and known in the mosquito control community 
• Former FSU and FAMU teaching and research professor

Personal:

• Married 42 years to Ann Smith, retired PCB special education teacher
• Two children:  Adam and Katie Smith
• 29-year resident of Panama City Beach
