Candidate: Erdine Johnson

Erdine  C. Johnson's career as a distinguished educator has spanned over 40 years. She started her career  as a classroom teacher in Marion County. She joined Team Duval as a teacher  at Holiday Hill and Loretto Elementary schools. Erdine then moved out of the classroom and began her career as an administrator in Duval County. As a principal, Erdine led Brentwood Elementary, Andrew Robinson Elementary, Henry F. Kite Elementary, Wayman Academy and Lone Star High School. Under her leadership, Brentwood Elementary, Andrew Robinson Elementary and Henry F. Kite Elementary, all urban schools within District 4, raised their school grade to an "A."

Throughout her career, Erdine received numerous accolades and recognition for her work including the United States Department of Education Title 1 Distinguished School Award (Brentwood  Elementary), EVE Award finalist, DCPS Service Excellence Award and Times-Union "10 Who Make a Difference" Award. 

Erdine has many roots within DCPS and education. Erdine is married to Vernon Johnson, a retired educator and DCPS administrator. Their two sons, Chris and Vernon Jr.,  are proud graduates of DCPS. Chris currently teaches in Duval County. In her spare time, Erdine enjoys bowling, golfing and traveling. Since retirement she has kept herself immersed in education, visiting schools, reading professional literature and staying abreast of education trends and legislation. 

Now Erdine is ready for her next role--DCPS School Board member. In this role, Erdine will have the ability to influence educational policies that impact the lives of children, parents, schools and the community at large. Erdine is committed to Duval County Public Schools and to our children.
