Candidate: Ryan Hartman

Hello! My name is Ryan Hartman and I am running for Fort Walton Beach City Council. I was born and raised here in Fort Walton Beach. I have been married to my wife Darris for almost thirteen years and we have three daughters. My family and I enjoy being outdoors. We enjoy anything outdoors. From surfing to hunting and riding our bikes to Ferry Park and Downtown, Fort Walton Beach has always been a place we our proud to call home. My two oldest daughters attend Liza Jackson Preparatory School and my youngest goes to preschool at Shalimar United Methodist Church.

I served in the United Stated Air Force for six years as medic. During my time I usually found myself in a position of leadership. In basic training I was an element leader, in tech school and Airman Leadership School I was a class leader. I also served as a shift leader for the emergency department for four years where I was responsible for coordinating patient care utilizing a twelve-person team of doctors, nurses, medics, and other ancillary services. I was selected for a joint deployment with the United States Army where I served as a combat medic attached to a combat sustainment unit. I was responsible for the care and wellbeing of an entire platoon both out on missions and while back on the forward operating base. My skills and earned me several awards and recognitions. Some of those are the US Army Achievement Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and the Air Force Combat Action Medal. After my initial enlistment was completed I received an honorable discharge and returned home to Fort Walton Beach.

Upon my return home, I worked at White-Wilson medical center as a registered medical assistant to a busy neurologist’s office. I used my leadership and management skills to ensure the office ran efficiently. To achieve this I not only needed to perform hands on patient care, but manage electronic health records, schedule appointments, obtain authorizations, and interact with multiple other specialties to make sure all aspects of a patients medical and personal needs were met.

Currently I work at A World of Signs. We specialize in creating a variety of visual advertisements and custom vehicle colors. I make sure materials are used correctly and projects are finished within budget and on time.
