Candidate: Mike Holmes

My name is Michael Holmes and I am a candidate in the upcoming City Council elections.

I have lived in the area most of my life, we don’t need to say how long that is. My wife, Lynda and I married in 1975 and raised three daughters in the area. Lynda has been employed at Reed Pet Hospital since 1977 and I manage the family owned auto repair business. I am very proud to claim Fort Walton Beach as my home.

I have served on the Code Enforcement Board, Fort Walton Beach Firefighters Pension Board, the Economic Development Council, Tourist Development Council, Northwest Florida Regional TPO, Okaloosa Walton TPO, Canvasing Board and have been Mayor Protem. I am also a graduate of the Institute of Elected Officials 1 and 2 taught by the Florida League of cities. I have attended many classes on Florida elected official ethics, Sunshine laws and Roberts Rules of Order.

In my everyday job, I have served on the Genuine Parts Advisory Committee, am

President of local business development group, currently serve on advisory board at NWFSC for the automotive dept. I am an elder at my attending church, Shoreline, and have developed a talent as a stage lighting technician and have taken up playing Bass guitar as one of my many hobbies. Others include fishing and playing raquetball.
