Candidate's Statement

Hi, I’m Barbara Bonarrigo,  Here’s a little bit about me:

  • I live in Ormond Beach, Florida
  • I’m a Small Business Owner of CJ Manufacturing in Daytona Beach
  • I’ve been married to my husband, Tom, for 30 years; we have 3 children
  • Member of the Volusia Cultural and Arts Council

My name is Barbara Bonarrigo, Below is my life’s history that has led me to my decision to serve my County.

I was born on December 4, 1963 in a small town in Germany. In 1989, I met my husband while on vacation in Switzerland and got married later that year. I was proud to become a green card holder in 1989 and began devoting myself to my career and raising my family. I decided to go back to school and obtained my cosmetology license while raising my two children. In 1993, my husband, two small children and I along with our metal manufacturing business relocated to Volusia county to become a subcontractor for General Electric.

After I got settled into my new hometown, I opened and operated a hair salon for two years. I got the entrepreneurial itch again in 2002, so I decided to open my first tanning salon and quickly expanded it to four salons and twenty employees. Simultaneously, I worked as our family manufacturing company's CFO with over forty employees and $3 million in annual revenue. Being the entrepreneurs that we are, my husband and I bought a restaurant in Daytona, a shopping plaza in South Daytona and managed ten rental homes throughout Volusia County. In 2009, the economic collapse forced us to sell some of our holdings, but we persevered through those tough years.

In 2007, I became a United States citizen and wanted to give back to a country that had given me and my family so much opportunity. I worked my first election as a greeter at the polls and most recently the President of a women’s political club here in Volusia. In 2019 I was appointed as a member of the Cultural and Arts Council of Volusia County.

My love and passion for my country and community is incredibly strong.
