Candidate: Alonza Jeron Watkins

Hello! I am Alonza "Alonzo" Watkins and I am running for Fort Pierce Mayor

Alonza "Alonzo" Watkins is one of the 3rd generation of the Watkining Fort Pierce for the last 10 years. He is not a native but he did grow up in Paradise Park during summer, Christmas, and spring breaks from a toddler to his late teens. This where his grandparents, uncles, and aunts instilled in him great work ethics, conscious thinking, and to do his best in the world as educations is the key. As a young teen he took this knowledge & teachings and hold it dear to his heart to this day.

Alonzo moved from Jacksonville to Fort Pierce in 2010 with his mother to start a new life with his son. He is a proud single father of a remarkable 16-year-old son that grew up and educated in the local school system, where he is now a student of Westwood Prep Marine and Oceanographic Academy (MOA). He instills in his son that education is the key to unlocking this world so always do your best.

Alonzo Watkins did his Bachelor in Criminal Justice studies at Edward Waters College (EWC) 2001-2006. This where he started to take interest in making a difference where ever he goes. At EWC he served on multiple student committees, help created EWC Criminal Justice Club, and worked on the Jacksonville Sheriff Office (JSO) Sheriff Advisory Committee (ShAdCo). After graduating, he started my Master Studies in Public Administration at Troy University in 2009. Here is where I began to learn how to help the community, make ethical and appropriate decisions, and budgeting resources.

Reason why I am running.

I decided to run for mayor because I believe that we need a voice for Fort Pierce especially on the Westside of US1. I have seen infrastructure deteriorate, jobs move out of the city, and the economy go down over the last few election cycles. Being the mayor, this should not be acceptable. We need someone that will work with all communities to brainstorm on how we can make the city prosper to the city it once was.He has not been in the community where he has let the community and city down over the past years and he apologize about that. He have great ideas to pump up Fort Pierce economy, build up city moral, cut crime, and to build the heathier  city. He believes with his integrity, working hard with community leaders and providers, innovative thinking, and listening skills, we will be able to grow the City of Fort Pierce for all citizens and communities. I am not running for a title, for fame, or gain. I am running to help improve the city and work for you

If elected, Alonzo Watkins will be accountable, responsible, and ethical with explanation on his decision. He would love to have a townhall meeting or a round table discussion with community leaders or citizens at ANYTIME.
