Candidate: Chauncelor Roosevelt Howell

Greetings,

My name is Chauncelor Howell and I was born in Miami, FL in 1962 and graduated from Miami Norland Senior High in 1980. Upon graduating from high school, I was accepted at Albany State College and later transferred to Bethune-Cookman College in which I remained until 1983.  During that same year I enlisted into the United States Marine Corps and reported to boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina in August 1983.

I remained on active duty for 20 years and officially retired as a “Gunnery Sergeant” with an honorable discharge on October 1, 2003. Throughout my tour of duty, I was able to serve our country in a host of military occupations. The most notable occurred when I served as the Commanding General’s driver and earned the title as a coveted Marine Corps Drill Instructor and Equal Opportunity Advisor, respectively, at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego & Western Recruiting Region.

Subsequently, I attended a host of formal leadership courses during my tenure in the Marine Corps to include, but not limited to, Non-Commissioned Officers School, Staff Non–Commissioned Officers Academy, Marine Corps Drill Instructor School, and the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute. 

I earned an Associate of Arts (Liberal Arts) from Windward Community College (HI) in 1990. Just over a decade later, I earned a Bachelor of Arts (Liberal Arts) from Chapman University in Orange County (CA) in 2004. During that same year and upon being hired by FedEx Ground, I attended FedEx Ground University (PA) to receive my certificate in Executive Recruiting & Interviewing.

In 2011, I completed my Master of Science in Management with a concentration in Homeland Security from Colorado Technical University (Colorado Springs). Although the majority of my adult life has been spent within the ranks of the military, I had an opportunity to hone my leadership skills and traits in the public sector as Region Human Resources Representative (FedEx Ground), Human Resources Manager (Eckerd Youth Alternatives), Chief Operations Officer (Evergreen Bio-Concepts) and Mayoral Candidate for the City of Port St Lucie in 2014.

I currently am the Founder / President of the Treasure Coast Black Chamber of Commerce and Co-Owner of Stick & Move Cigar Enthusiasts. I also am an independent scholar enrolled in Walden University’s Doctoral of Business Administration program and am on pace to complete/defend my dissertation titled “Strategies to Cultivate Long-Term Customer Relations” during calendar year 2020.

Most recently, I has accepted a nomination from Walden University for membership with the National Society for Leadership & Success. During my time as a resident of PSL I volunteered for a host of local charities such as Toys for Tots, Habitat for Humanity, and United Against Poverty (St. Lucie County).  I am also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

I am married to Virginia Howell and have been for 22 years. I have a daughter and grandson, Veronica and Keven, who are both residents of Port St Lucie.

In closing, I plan to bring my knowledge, experience, and leadership to PSL City Council for the betterment of all citizens regardless of race, creed, ethnicity or religion. As a result of my personal values, esprit de corps, and genuine interest to find plausible solutions, I humbly ask for your vote to become Councilman for the City of Port St Lucie, FL - District 2.
