Candidate: David H. Pickett, Jr.

David Pickett has spent his entire adult life in the service of others. A veteran of the United States Army, he served in a variety of highly sensitive roles within the Air Defense Artillery Corps, the Military Police Corps, and as a Logistician and Transportation Specialist.

After serving two combat tours in the Middle East and receiving a multitude of accommodation medals, including the Combat Action Badge, Army Achievement Medal, and the Florida Distinguished Service and Commendation Medals, Pickett retired from the US Army in 2015 with a master’s degree in Critical Incident Management and joined the private sector as a Transportation/Warehouse Manager for Borden Dairy in Riviera Beach.

Though born in Indiana, Pickett chose Florida as the place to live and found Port St. Lucie to be the ideal place to raise five children and instill in them the same family values he learned growing up in the Midwest – respect, loyalty, duty, honor and courage. He has been active in his community, serving first as a volunteer, coach, and mentor with the local Little League, and as his children grew, Pickett has become increasingly involved in helping to ensure that Port St. Lucie continues to be big on opportunity, small on crime, and always moving forward positively.
