Candidate's Statement

QUALIFIED

·         Served for 10 years as County Commissioner (2002-2012)

·         Gained great knowledge about the inner workings of County Government and how it should work

·         Successful business owner for 42 years

·         Leadership skills- Managed and worked employees

·         Experienced in developing and implementing small and large budgets

·         Worked with Legislators who pass the Florida Statutes and laws

·         Fought hard against unfunded mandates that can be a burden on our residents

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

·         Attended and supported many community and school events

·         Became a member and supported many local organizations

·         Chairman of the Republican Executive Committee of Gilchrist County for 18 years

·         Still serve on the REC as a precinct chairman

·         Mentor at Bell High School for several years

·         Dedicated as a member of the Church and serving GOD

*2019: I had a site meeting with Hudson Food Stores and convinced them to build the Marathon Station at SR47 and CR340. It has been a great asset for the residents and the County.

*2013: Worked with Nature Coast Development LLC and helped get the Best Western Hotel and Resort construction started. Hope to be open soon.

Gilchrist County is growing, and I can help manage this growth. I love Gilchrist County. It will always be my home and hopefully home for my children and grandchildren.

My wife, Janet Jones Langford, teaches at Bell High School. Our oldest son, Jeffrey Lanford graduated from Bell. Our youngest son, Fisher Langford, is in 9th grade at Bell. Our daughter, Joanie Beth Langford, attended Bell High School until the 10th grade but lost her life in an automobile accident in 1997. We have awarded 25 scholarships to students at Bell High School, now at $2,500 per student since 1997.
