Candidate: Emory James Philman

My name is Emory Philman and I am seeking the office of Gilchrist County Commissioner District 4.

I am 68 years old and have lived in Gilchrist County for 44 years.  I am retired from The Cross City Correctional Institute where I served in the maintenance department.  I am the former owner and operator of Philman Septic Tank, and ICM Printing Company.  I was also employed by Palm Medical Group as a Massage Therapist and a Sports Trainer.   I am now employed part time with Tim Lucas Custom Woodworking.  I attend Mt. Nebo Baptist Church where I serve as a Song Leader, Praise  Team Member and Sunday School Teacher.  I also give my time through my church to serve with Missions to help others in need.   

I am married to Pat Hodge Philman.  She is a retired Media Specialist and Elementary School Teacher at Bell Elementary School for 25 years.  My parents are Alene Philman and the late Amos Philman. 

I served our county as a County Commissioner in district 5 from 1988 until 1992 at which time I decided not to seek re-election for personal reasons. 

I have been a responsible and diligent worker from the age of 13 until now.  I feel my work ethics,   work record, and my responsibility as a business owner as well as time served as a County  Commissioner, qualify me as a candidate for County Commissioner District 4.

I am seeking the office because I have watched our county grow.  I would like our county to continue to grow in jobs and businesses while still maintaining our farming and agriculture, our schools and our small town feeling. 

In August I changed my party affiliate.  This is requiring me to run as a write in candidate on the ballot.
