Candidate: Paul Anderson

My name is Paul Anderson and I am running for School Board District 5. I am running to provide a regular guy\'s perspective to help solve the challenges facing Flagler County. I am campaigning for increased focus on three key areas if I am fortunate to win. The first is Communication. Though we provide the devices to students and staff and today\'s technology has provided numerous avenues to communicate, we are failing as a District to communicate effectively. Second is Implementation. We seem to have a surplus of ideas but a deficit of accomplishment and follow through. Third is Accountability. We need to initiate a process of accountability from the School Board all the way down to the students. For those that don\'t know us, Stacy and I have been married for nineteen years and we have a son named Jared who will be fourteen. I answer to \"Stacy\'s Husband\", \" Jared\'s Dad\" and for those kids that know me \"Mr. Paul\". We moved to Florida twenty-four years ago from the Philadelphia area to Orlando. After our son Jared was born, we decided to move to Palm Coast to be closer to our extended family. We struggled at first but have made Palm Coast our happy home for the last fourteen years. I was a District Sales Manager for an Airport Retailer while in Orlando. It was there that I first experienced, first hand, how a successful relationship between the private sector and a governmental agency can produce great things. We created a Concessionaires Council at the Orlando International Airport, which I was a member and chaired, where we shared our ideas for the future of the airport. The learning curve was sometimes painful on both sides but the work we started way back then, others finished to create the retail environment that you see at OIA today. When we moved to Palm Coast, after a few months, I answered an ad for an Alarm Company that started my future career path. I worked my way up to a New Construction Specialist with a large Florida Alarm Company during the construction boom. When that bubble burst, the economy went to heck and while others were looking to leave Palm Coast, I decided to take the advice of a former client and Stacy\'s Pop- Pop to open my own business. That was was 2009 and we\'re still growing. I don\'t pretend to have all the answers but I\'m a student of history and I do my homework.
