Candidate: Donald O'Brien

Donald T. O’Brien, Jr. is currently Chief Financial Officer and Account Executive with Hayward Brown-Flagler, Inc., a full-service independent insurance agency. In addition to managing the daily operations of the company, Mr. O’Brien develops solutions for the insurance and risk management needs of business owners, professionals and individuals. He holds a Certified Insurance Counselor designation from the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. Mr. O’Brien is the former co-owner and Chief Financial Officer of Coast Title Insurance Agency, Inc. of Palm Coast, Florida. Coast Title Insurance Agency, Inc. is one of the largest Title Insurance Agencies in Flagler County assisting several thousand customers annually with their real estate closings. Prior to joining Coast Title, Mr. O’Brien worked for more than twenty years in the banking industry in New York and Florida. In Florida Mr. O’Brien held several positions with the former Barnett Bank of Volusia/Flagler Counties including Senior VP of Retail Sales and Service. In his most recent banking position, Mr. O’Brien served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Cypress Bank a start-up community bank headquartered in Palm Coast, Florida. Mr. O’Brien was born and raised in New York. He and his family moved to Palm Coast in 1990. Mr. O’Brien attended college at St. John’s University in New York City where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration and a M.B.A. in Finance. Mr. O’Brien is a Rotarian and a member of several community and business organizations. Currently he is a board member and past Chairman of the Board of the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. O’Brien is a member of the Florida Hospital Flagler Foundation Board and chairs the 20/20 Society fundraising campaign. In addition he serves on the board and the finance committee of the Early Learning Coalition of Volusia and Flagler Counties.
