During my term as the Treasurer of the Mosquito Control Board, I have maintained the fiduciary responsibility which is the utmost importance to me. I have been prudent in maintaining the budget, not increasing taxes, ensuring financial well being and its long term success, and reducing the tax rate this past year. As Citrus county grows, so does the need for Mosquito Control Services to protect our community from vector-borne diseases.
Other accomplishments of the board during my term include:
Purchased outright a newer helicopter to support the 50+year-old helicopter which will still be utilized
Increased surveillance department which is needed to survey mosquito blood-borne diseases and vectors
Updating the laboratory to increase efficacy and efficiency
Hired a Public Education Specialist which is imperative to help prevent disease by raising awareness throughout our school system, civic groups, and public events
Continued in-house training of all the employees
Continue to uphold our policies and budgets regarding equipment, employees, and chemical inventory
Developed a strategic plan for the district for now and the future
Reduced the millage by 17.5% since 2020, 3 of the 4 years of my term
Obtained my Public Health Pest Control License from the State of Florida Department of Agrilculture and Consumer Services
I will continue to be fiscally responsible with our taxpayer dollars while maintaining the public health of our residents and tourists. Public Health and Safety is the reason for Mosquito Control.
As always, I will continue to be an environmental steward and utilize Integrated Mosquito Management protocols for best practices. This is the number one focus of Mosquito Control.
I have proven myself during my term as a leader through my chemistry and science background, research, and moving the district forward with the new website, online interactivity, community outreach, needed advancements, Integrated Mosquito Management, creating a 5 year strategic plan, investing in our employees and public outreach, and NOT raising your taxes for these accomplishments. Your Mosquito Control District millage rates were reduced by 17.2% since I took office from 0.4478 to current 0.3708 in millage.
My knowledge of Mosquito Management has increased exponentially since I began my term in 2021. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with and serving you and would love to continue serving you for another term. Since this is my only job, I promise to dedicate my full attention to all matters involving the Mosquito Control District.
I am a dedicated, educated, and experienced qualified commissioner with a proven record.
I humbly ask for your vote on November 5th.
Stephanie Adams

I have worked in the Utility Industry for the majority of my working career 30 years in various positions. I worked in the field as a Meter Reader Collector dealing with environmental issues (weather, insects, and animals) and being the public interface working with interpersonal customer service. I also worked efficiently in a Customer Call Center responding to emergencies and billing/service-related issues. The majority of my career was in technical sciences: chemistry, environmental, radiological, and hazardous materials/environments. The positions required me to protect the public’s and workers’ health and safety and to protect the environment.
I was also assigned to train other personnel in the technical and safety areas. I also have been in positions where I have had to maintain budgets, inventory and general accounting functions, and make budget decisions accordingly.
