Maureen ‘Mo’ Baird believes Experience Matters in Elections!

Maureen ‘Mo’ Baird was elected in August of 2020. She believes in the highest standard of excellence, by instilling trust and confidence in the accuracy, efficiency, and security of our elections. Voters trust Mo with their ballot.

Mo took office as your Supervisor of Elections on January 5, 2021. Since being in office she has secured numerous non-matching grants to improve the security and protection of elections while being diligent with taxpayers’ dollars. Grants were used for ballot on demand printers for early voting, secure caging for archiving, network servers and much more to improve multiple layers of cyber and physical security within the election’s environment.  She successfully conducted the 2022 elections providing results for the General election by 7:37pm election night. 

She is a Certified Election Registration Administrator from both the Election Center through Auburn University and  the Florida Supervisors of Elections through Florida State University FCEP as a Florida Certified Election Professional.

On May 24, 2023 Supervisor Baird was sworn into office by Secretary of State, Cord Byrd for the Florida Supervisor of Elections (FSE) as a member of the Executive Board of Directors.

Maureen ‘Mo’ Baird was 25 years old when starting her career in elections. She was the Operations Managers for prior Supervisor Ms. Gill.  Susan Gill has endorsed Ms. Baird stating in the Chronicle, “Absolutely I endorse her, look at what she’s done here.”

In summary, Maureen “Mo” Baird has accomplished the following:

  • Over 30 years of progressive leadership experience in elections. 
  • Specialization in the organization and delivery of over 81 successful elections.
  • Delivery of improvements for election operations, cyber and physical security, and team development.
  • Developments to thrive in a fast-paced, technology and law changing environment.

Mo is an active church member in Citrus County since 1989. She attends Christ Community Church in Lecanto, Florida. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Citrus Pregnancy Center. Mo has served and chaired this Board for 15 years prior to returning to the board last year. She has served at the Florida Baptist Children’s Home as a Caring Parent. Mo Welcomed children into her home to care for them allowing parents the time to overcome hardships. Mo loves God, her precious family and serving others. 

Fun facts about Mo – She was a certified EMT for over 10 years, a certified Nurse’s Aide, and a Phlebotomist. She worked at Citrus Memorial Hospital and Citrus Community Blood Bank.  Mo worked for Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Youth Camp for children in the Ocala National Forest. She was 13 years old when she got her first job at an Inverness Day Care taking care of all the babies in the nursery. Mo loves to visit her grands in Knoxville. She is a Citrus County resident since 1971. Mo has two children, Meaggen who resides in Manhattan, NY and Jeremy who resides in Knoxville, TN with his wife and two children. 

In conclusion, there is no one with more skill, experience, and heart for the position of Supervisor of Elections than Maureen “Mo” Baird.
