Candidate's Statement

With over 28 years teaching in classrooms and leading schools, Tracey is an experienced educator that has dedicated her life to the belief that students deserve the highest quality education we can provide. She believes that public education is a cornerstone of our republic, vital for continued national security, and essential to maintaining our technological edge against competitors like China and Russia in today’s fast-paced global economy.

She believes students in Bradford County deserve a better education than they currently receive and that we as a school district can do better! It is her desire to lead the Bradford County School District to the top of Florida by assuring student achievement through the use of innovative instruction models incorporating workforce-ready technology skills through alignment to standards-based instruction.

Tracey is currently the principal of Brookview Elementary (BVE), 100% free and reduced lunch school, in the Duval Public School District. Through her leadership, and lots of hard work, BVE improved its school grade from a projected “D” in 2020 to a 61 point “B” in 2023. This year BVE is striving for an “A” grade.

Tracey, a 1989 Bradford County High School graduate, began her education career after receiving her Bachelor of Education degree from the University of North Florida in 1996.  She served internships during her coursework with the Bradford, Clay, and Duval school districts. She was hired by the Clay County School District (CCSD) immediately after graduation. While teaching with the CCSD, she served in multiple roles to include as a fifth grade teacher at Clay Hill Elementary as well as the Title 1 Coordinator and Reading Coach for McRae Elementary.

She earned a Master of Education Leadership degree from University of North Florida in 2004, and she was promoted by the CCSD in 2007 to Assistant Principal at the Oakleaf School with 1,800 students serving kindergarten through eighth graders. She also served as the Assistant Principal at Oakleaf Village Elementary which she opened in 2008.

Tracey was appointed as Principal of Clay Hill Elementary in 2012.  She served there for four years, and during her tenure, she was recognized by Folio Weekly for providing her students with laptops through Title 1, grant funding.  She was the first Principal to bring one-to-one computers in Clay County Schools, and this led to her recognition as an “Innovative Educator” by the Jacksonville Business Journal in 2016.

She went on to be Principal at Oakleaf Village Elementary (OVE) with a population of 1,100 students where she led the faculty to realize a 26-point gain in school grade calculation for the 2016-17 school year.  in Clay County. Maintained an “A” school grade. Tracey is a certified Intel Math Instructor Trainer, and one of 30 Microsoft Hacking STEM Trained educators in 2019.

Tracey is a proud military wife and mother. She and her husband Brian, also a graduate of Bradford County High School, were married in 1993 and have three daughters Katie, Chloe, and Kelsey. Their oldest daughter Katie is a U.S. Air Force veteran, and Brian has spent the past 35 years serving in the U.S. Army and Florida Army National Guard.

Tracey is known for her leadership in school improvement and implementation of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) skills in order to build a workforce ready student population.
