Candidate's Statement

----------------------------------------MY FELLOW CITIZENS----------------------------------------------------------

I am Bob Schultz, who wishes to be your next City Commissioner, Seat 1, of the City of Lynn Haven.  I am a long time resident, who with my wife, Kathy, have lived here long before Hwy 77 became a 4 lane road and have seen many ongoing changes come to our city.  Lynn Haven has citizens from all over our great country, who have arrived with a dream of a better life, the AMERICAN DREAM, of having a good job and affordable housing.  They were not disappointed and all of this came true with excellent schools, shopping centers, houses of worship, medical facilities, parks, library, roads, etc. as well as social and recreational activities (2nd to none) for all of our 20,000 residents.  This was only the beginning as streets were being repaved, sewer and water lines updated, our parks renovated, and new social events such as the Christmas Parade were added.  We, as a city, were on our way.

Within one hour on October 10th, 2018, all of this changed with the arrival of an unwanted guest, Hurricane Michael.  Life as we had known it came to a halt.  Mass destruction and despair set in.  Our dream was gone.  We all have our own stories to tell of loss and rebuilding our homes, not to mention our lives which never will be the same.  Many of our citizens left as they had no housing or a job.

Under "normal times", we, the candidates, would have a "platform of issues" that would be brought to the residents, as how we would handle problems like the flooding occurring at times on roads near 17th St.  All projects like this one are on hold (but not forgotten) as the funds earmarked, are needed to help put the city back together.  The massive cleanup bill is now over $25,000,000 and growing each day.  The city does get Federal and State funds but it is slow in coming.  As least now, we can drive on safe streets with most of the roadside debris having been hauled away.  Recovery will be slow and long, but we are on our way.

I have been approached by a number of residents who wish me to run for the upcoming Commission Seat.  Many of you know that I have been involved for many years in our community as a volunteer with the VA clinic as well as the American Red Cross, Rotary, and the Senior Center, just to mention a few.  I am hearing your voice, indicating that the "City Fathers" are not listening and you want a change.  "NEW LEADERSHIP WITH A NEW APPROACH."  This, I can tell you if elected, I WILL LISTEN TO YOU AND DO WHAT I CAN.  My campaign is based on "COMMON SENSE" and this is how I address issues.  No big promises.  I will do just what I can for you but first, I must have your support and vote.

Thank you.                                      bobschultz3317@gmail.com is my contact address.  Please      Bob Schultz                                    address your concerns and questions.  I will get back with you                                                           ASAP.   .
