Candidate: Linda Albrecht

I’m Linda Albrecht and I am running for Mexico Beach City Council group 3. In 1999 my husband and I purchased a house in Mexico Beach. In 2005 we made Mexico Beach our permanent home. For the the past four years I have been a member of the city council.  

Mexico Beach is a unique place to call home. You won’t find a fast pace of life, cookie-cutter homes,  chain restaurants, or tall buildings that would block the view of the Gulf of Mexico. What you will find are people caring about people, beautiful white sandy beaches, family owned businesses and the desire not to change the flavor of Mexico Beach.  

Since October 2018 when Michael came ashore, The Mexico Beach we knew and loved was altered. The core of Mexico Beach has not changed. Citizens still want to keep our uniqueness, caring for one another, family  businesses, and preserve our beautiful white sandy beaches. Since Hurricane Michael decisions have been made that never needed to be made previously.  Many of those decisions have  been tough and controversial. All of them were based on the desire to bring back Mexico Beach.  A place, dearly loved, by so many..  

My decision to run for council is based on the following:
***CONTINUE THE SUCCESSFUL REBUILDING PROCESS......Our recovery has been phenomenal in terms of quickness and efficiency. I would hate to have a bump in the road due to a change in leadership.
***DISCUSSIONS ARE HEALTHY.....A variety of opinions are necessary at the council table. It is also important that we can agree to disagree with each other respectfully. I would like to see that continue with the council as it has been the last  few years. 
***EQUALITY....providing an avenue where all residence and property owners are treated fair and equal.
