Candidate's Statement

My name is Margie Bradley and I have been married to Herb Bradley for 38 years and have lived in Lake Padgett Estates for 30 of those years. We have raised three children in the subdivision, Marlies, Christine and James. Marlies and her family reside in Lake Padgett and James and his family have purchased property to build in this subdivision. We consider Lake Padgett Estates very special and want to keep it a great neighborhood for our families. I have always considered my home my greatest investment and greatest expense. I have tried to protect that investment by donating my time and energy to the community. I have been an active member of the Lake Padgett Estates Civic Association for over 25 years. I have held every office and have been President 10 of those years. I currently am serving on both the Civic Association Board and the MSTU Advisory Board. I also served for 5 years on the Central Pasco Coalition in several offices including President. This group consisted of 22 subdivisions and I represented Lake Padgett Estates. We successfully fought the construction of a Medical Waste Incinerator and Chlorine Plant in our area. In addition, we fought to have the Gas Transmission lines moved from the center of our town and safety measures taken to protect lines from accidental ruptures. Our work, documentation and videos have been used throughout the U.S. by other community groups. We also were able to acquire annual revenues (from the pipeline) for fire protection and training. In Lake Padgett it has been a 6 year battle to save our beautiful parks and I have fought that battle along with a small group of neighborhood participants. I would like to serve on the new Lake Padgett Independent Special District Board for one term to help organize the group and to make sure that this governing group gets off to a good start. We have many organizational tasks, such as selecting a Management Company, insurances, establishing rules, preparing budgets, producing a 5 year plan, accomplishing the required maintenance and still control the budget. I moved to Pasco County at the age of 10 and attended schools in Pasco and Hillsborough Counties. I have worked for the Dept. of Business and Professional Regulation as a Paralegal. After an early retirement,I am now working locally as a Realtor. I have served two terms on the Central Pasco Board of Realtors and I am a candidate for President Elect. I plan on completing my courses in Community Association Management this fall and believe this education will be invaluable to our Board. I hope that you will permit me to represent you on the Board for the Lake Padgett Estates Independent District.
