Candidate: Frank Swanson

Dear Fellow Duval County Voters, My name is Frank Swanson and I am a candidate for the Duval County Soil and Water Conservation Board, District 3. This is a non-salaried position serving a four-year term. The Board provides many services, primarily dealing with agricultural issues in Duval County. The mission of the Board is to plan and implement programs and practices that promote the conservation of natural resources in the County. I moved to Jacksonville in 1958; I love this City and I am proud to call it my home. I graduated from Wolfson High School and the University of Florida. My wife Terri is President of the Susie Tolbert/ R.V. Daniels Elementary PTA. We have three wonderful children, Evan, 13; Alex, 11; and Eleanor, 7; and are active members of the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour in Mandarin. I am a licensed Professional Geologist (P.G.) and have worked as an environmental consultant for 16 years. I worked for the City of Jacksonville for four years, administering the State\'s Petroleum Cleanup Program, managing contaminated sites while helping protect the drinking water resources of Duval County. In short, I have dealt with soil and water issues all my professional life; therefore, I thought this would be the natural public office for me to seek. My reasons for running for office are several. I have always been interested in public service and enjoyed my years as a Civil Servant, so I decided to step up to another level of commitment. Also, I feel the Board should have representation from a Scientist, not another politician. My campaign platform is quite simple: SCIENCE not POLITICS.
