Vice Mayor Shannon Martin filed on February 6th to run for re-election for Port St. Lucie City Council, District 3. “I’m running for re-election because I am very excited about our city’s future and I love serving the people of Port St. Lucie,” said Martin. “We’ve worked hard to bounce back from the great recession. With continued focus on supporting our small businesses and promoting smart economic development, we will continue to make significant strides.” Martin completes her second term on the council this year. “Over my last term, I’ve supported reducing the property tax rates, saved the taxpayers $222 million through refinancing our debt, and pushed for an accelerated pace of sidewalk construction. I’ve successfully lobbied the state to fund the McCarty Ranch Water Quality Project, and continued my support for law enforcement so our city can maintain the Safest City rating it’s held for the past seven years. I worked to get construction going on the Crosstown Parkway, championed the Woodland Trails Park Project,and supported the public art wraps on utility boxes throughout the city.
