Candidate's Statement

James Taylor believes that St. Lucie County is one of Florida’s hidden treasures. A third generation St. Lucie County resident, Taylor has lived his entire life in the county he knows and loves. Growing up in this community, James’ passion for public service started at a young age and he has been the foundation for his personal values and convictions. James is very involved in the local community, currently serving as a member of the St. Lucie County Planning and Zoning Commission and as the Vice Chairman of the Housing Finance Authority. Yearly, he supports Safespace by participating in the “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” campaign and even earned Volunteer of the Year in 2015. He has also been a member of Westside Church for more than 15 years and has recently joined Genesis Community Church with his wife of two years Jenna. Taylor’s educational background, an Associate in Arts Degree from Indian River State College and a Business Administration Degree in Management & Marketing from Florida Atlantic University, gives him a distinctive blend of a creative and structured approach to any task at hand. Born in Fort Pierce, James understands the need to combine efforts and build better relationships with Fort Piece, Port St. Lucie and St. Lucie County. What benefits Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie, benefits the County”. James believes in this community’s potential for greatness, for all generations. Even though St. Lucie County is a growing community, it has a small town feel which is a great strength James strives to maintain. More responsible economic development, reaching beyond retail opportunities, will ensure and sustain the growth destined to occur. Most importantly, strengthening the focus of our community’s youth, is not to be overlooked.
