Candidate: Kelly Owens

Kelly Owens has served as a County Commissioner since November, 2016, and earned the distinction of a Certified County Commissioner through the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) in 2017.

Commissioner Owens' past business experience includes working as an independent Leadership Development Consultant responsible for assisting governance teams throughout Florida in the areas of leadership, ethics, finance and strategic planning. She also served as the Vice-President of a family business for nearly 20 years.

Commissioner Owens was appointed to the Florida Military Compact Council in 2009. As the daughter of a career military man and the wife of a Vietnam veteran, she was honored to serve in the position for ten years.

Currently, Commissioner Owens serves on the Board of Directors with the Okeechobee County Chamber of Commerce, the Okeechobee Educational Foundation, and the CenterState Bank Advisory Board.

LOCAL: Career Source Heartland; Small County Coalition; Okeechobee Battlefield; Value Adjustment Board; STATE: FAC Tax Administration Policy Leader (2017); FAC Health and Safety Legislative Policy Leader (2018-present); FEDERAL: National Association of Counties Justice and Public Safety Steering Committee (2019-present).

Commissioner Owens and her husband of over 30 years, Bob, have made Okeechobee their home since 1993.
