Candidate's Statement

I live here. I work here. I’m raising my family here. I have a vested interest in the future of Estero over the next 10, 20, 30 years. I have a 21-month old son and a daughter due any minute. I also have many friends in District 7 and throughout Estero who have started their families here. It’s really an exciting time, and my family is going to be a big part of the future of this village. Southwest Florida is a melting pot of people from all over the country as well as internationally. Everyone who lives in the area is always asked, “Where are you from?” I’m from Chicago originally and I take a lot of pride in my hometown. It dawned on me recently that when my kids are asked that question, they will be saying “born and raised in Estero, Florida.” Wow. I never thought that would be the answer, but it will be. I want my children to have the same pride in their hometown that I’ve always had in mine. I’m for small business. I’m for big business. I love seeing people make money. I love seeing people spend money. Estero has room to grow. And it has the amenities to attract any business we want. We need to attract and retain good businesses, both national and independent. I’m also for residential and commercial development, but smart growth is more important than rapid growth. Education and school systems are also important issues for us to deal with as our population continues to expand. How we prepare for and manage that growth is going to be crucial going forward. By trade, I am a commercial real estate and business broker specializing in restaurants and hotels. I’ve been in real estate and lending in some form or fashion since 1995. My company is a boutique firm but I’ve also worked for a large international commercial lender, a top industrial REIT, as well as the largest commercial real estate brokerage in the world. However, the old adage, “this isn’t my first rodeo,” doesn’t apply to me. This IS my first rodeo when it comes to running for any governmental office. I like to serve, and I like to help people. I’ve served on the finance committee for the Naples Area Board of Realtors, and I’ve been active in local charities including the Boys and Girls Club of Collier County, Humane Society Naples, and Guadalupe Center, to name a few. I think my background and experience make me uniquely qualified to act as councilman and to bring a fresh perspective on all issues facing this growing community. I appreciate your vote. Frank J.
