Candidate's Statement

I, Bill Ribble, am a Candidate for the initial Estero Village Council District 1. My professional and community service experience has prepared me well to serve the residents of Estero as Councilman. I have been a resident of Estero and the Colony in Pelican Landing since April of 2007. As a resident,I have served both communities in several leadership roles. I served as Co-Chair of The Pelican Landing Unit Owners Committee, UOC, from 2010 to 2012. I Chaired the Colony Design and Review and Standards Committee from 2009 to 2013. I am presently the Chairperson for the Colony Residents Council, CRC, a position I have held since 2013. My philanthropic experience includes: Chairman of the Philadelphia Urban League, Secretary Treasurer of United Way of Philadelphia, VP of the Kutztown University Foundation, and Co- Chair of the Children\'s Hospital Golf Outing at the Colony in Pelican Landing. As an executive for UPS with more than 35 years of service, I have developed a strong acumen for business and community relationships. I have a track record of bringing groups together in a collaborative manner for win-win outcomes. I have vast experience representing UPS with inter-governmental assignments including local, state and federal governments. These assignments included mayors, governors, congressmen and senators. If elected, I will help to implement the \"Village of Estero\'s Charter\", protect our natural resources and quality of life through citizen participation, and support professional management and ethical community leadership. I believe in transparency and communicating with residents to understand their needs. I believe that citizen input combined with solid governance practices is the key to effective government. My platform for Council will be to oppose property tax increases, and continue to enforce the high appearance standards in the Estero Community Plan that have contributed greatly to Estero\'s reputation. I will help to implement the development of a Healthcare Village in the area around Coconut and US 41. I will work to improve access to the Estero River and its appearance for both residents and tourists.
