Candidate's Statement

I, Teresa Ann Martin, a lifelong resident of Franklin County, filed the intent to seek the Democratic nomination for the Franklin County Tax Collector position on February 1, 2018. Indeed, it was with substantial prayers, that I announced my candidacy. I am the daughter of Mrs. Betty Stephens-Allen of Apalachicola, Florida and Freddie Jefferson of Miami, Florida. I am blessed with three daughters, Ke’Asha, a clerk in the Bay County Tax Collector Office, Cheyenne and Morgan, students at Florida A & M University. During my twenty-eight years of employment with the Franklin County Tax Collector’s Office, I was elected to serve as a member of the Franklin County School Board. Many accomplishments were achieved to enhance educational opportunities for Franklin County students. A new facility was constructed, including a multi-purpose building, educational programs that are crucial for learning were reinstated, dual enrollment with Gulf Coast College was expanded, personnel training programs were implemented and many more….Now the opportunity has come for me to advance my position in the Franklin County Tax Office. While working diligently in the Tax Collector’s Office, I demonstrated the skills and knowledge required to provide services to Franklin County residents, while protecting their needs. During my years of employment, I performed in a collaborative manner with the Tax Collector and employees, while demonstrating leadership, program management and efficient customer service skills. Tags, Titles and Motor Vehicle Registration, Hunting and Fishing Licenses and a variety of other tax services have always been ongoing during my employment. It is a pleasure for me to provide valuable services with a smile and I look forward to continuing this relationship with Franklin County residents. I am not retired. I am simply waiting for Franklin County Citizens to elect me, Teresa Ann Martin for Tax Collector….A NAME WE KNOW…A NAME WE TRUST. As a Democratic Candidate for election, I certainly affirm that I will work to fulfill the responsibilities of the Tax Collector in accordance to Florida Administrative Code, including the collection of ad valorem taxes and other taxes at the local level and serving as an agent of the Department of Revenue, Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, and the Fresh Water Fish Commission. I need your vote and support. I look forward to working with you during the election period. Contact me at 850-323-0932 for additional information.
