Candidate: Connie Polous

I am Connie Polous and I have worked in the Tax Collector's for 21 years and pleased to announce my candidacy to become your next elected Tax Collector in November 2018. My husband of 38 Years Dewitt Polous and I have both resided in Franklin county our entire lives and made our home in Eastpoint. We have two adult children, Eric Polous, wife Heather and Dona Brooke Polous. We also have 4 wonderful grandchildren, Bella, Kaci Brooke, Jase and Maverick. I am also very proud to be the daughter of the late George W. Dykes and Ruby Dykes who resides in Apalachicola and to be the daughter in law of the late Jesse James Polous and Mary Magdelene Polous of Eastpoint. During my 21 years of service in the Tax Collectors Office, I have approached customer service, accountability and professionalism as a priority. I recognize it is an honor to serve the public and respect that the tax payers deserve integrity and accountability. I have been the Office Manager of the Carrabelle Annex Tax Collectors Office for 11 years after being promoted to the position in 2006. I have extensive knowledge of every aspect of the operations of the Tax Office. During my 21 years I have prepared myself with knowledge of the office and desired to become the elected Tax collector at the appropriate time. My experience and extensive knowledge of all aspects of operating the office consist of proficiency in the Tax Department in where your tax revenues are collected, distributed and balance all accounts. Also, in the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Division, I have extensive knowledge of the Florida Statutes and efficient in applying the law to the issuance of tags, titles, fishing licenses and concealed weapons permits. I managed and balanced the business accounts that are audited annually. I am very proud that the Carrabelle Annex Tax Collectors Office Audit Report was without any discrepancies under my immediate supervision and management. The tax Collectors Office has a variety of duties and operations that are mandated by Florida Statute and County Ordinance. I have fulfilled the required duties and operations of this office and provided courteous service to you the citizens for 21 years until I was terminated by the newly governor appointed Tax Collector. I am humbly asking to serve you again. Therefor I need your vote and support in the November 6th, 2018 election to do so.
